Virtual and remote team management

Strong Enterprises has extensive knowledge and experience in the world of remote working and running virtual teams. Many organisations are using this way of working as a necessary strategy in reducing costs, attracting and keeping talented staff and gaining a global reach in their operations.

With the increase in sophisticated ubiquitous communications technology (British businesses are ranked third in the world) and an exponential rise in people who have remote access to the internet, trends indicate that there will be over 5 million ‘moving or remote’ workers in the UK alone.

To help businesses negotiate this complexity, Strong Enterprises runs knowledge sharing events and courses on the following topics:

“Remote working is a term used where an individual or group is working geographically distanced from their manager and or the main office.”

  • Organisational structures and processes
  • Legal issues and regulation
  • Communication and influencing skills
  • Leadership for remote workers
  • Technology for remote workers.

Knowledge sharing events

Managing people effectively at a distance is critical in organisations that require people to work together from multiple locations around the world. This applies equally to those working across international boundaries, in different offices in the same country or indeed those who work from home.

Strong Enterprises has put together a series of learning and knowledge sharing evenings. Each evening covers a different topic that is relevant to today’s leader. Attendees come from a broad range of sectors and organisations with different perspectives on remote and virtual management and, with some fascinating solutions. Typically, the programme includes two short, informal presentations followed with some time to share ideas and solutions, to debate and question.

People wishing to take part will need to confirm their attendance with Nicola Strong

Trends confirm that more organisations are encouraging remote working/home working/virtual teams as part of the flexibility offered to staff and to cut costs for leaner structures. The question for many managers is how do you manage people you will not see on a day-to-day basis?

  • regulation and the law for remote working
  • measuring and monitoring  the performance of remote workers

Leadership

  • leadership and behavioural competencies for remote workers
  • trust and how it works in virtual teams
  • influencing skills and maintaining a presence in virtual teams with many stakeholders
